It’s A Ten-13 Thing

Ten spelled out with numeric numeral 13 - live life to the full

Ten-13…it’s an interesting number and it has considerable meaning to me personally. Before reading further, please understand that I am not promoting numerology in the spiritualist or psychic sense. I do not believe in superstitious hocus-pocus and old wives’ tales. I do not believe in secret biblical codes or hidden messages or prophecies. God does not play hide-n-seek with us. He makes plain those things He wants us to know and understand. However, I have found some interesting and quirky symbolism, for myself, in the number 1013. It’s fun to consider but I’ll place my trust in God and His Word, thank you very much. So, read the following with a grain of salt and enjoy it for what it is…a Ten-13 thing.

Numbers & Numerals Have Can Have Divine Significance

All numbers have meaning. Pythagoras, the great Greek philosopher and mathematician, is said to have asserted that the universe is mathematically precise and that each number has its own “vibration” and meaning. St. Augustine of Hippo wrote that numbers were the universal language offered by God to humans as confirmation of the truth. Modern science, physics, and astronomy would also assert that the universe is mathematically precise…too precise, in fact, to be happenstance. The ancient Greek philosophers often affixed meanings to individual numerals and numeral sequences as means for discovering insight and revelation.
Biblically speaking, numbers have value and meaning as well. Biblical numerology is the study of numbers in the Bible, their connections, patterns of numerals, and how they can uncover the handiwork of God. For instance, the number 7 is representative of completion, completeness, and perfection. The number 3 is also thought to be a number of divine perfection (i.e. the Trinity). The number 1 denotes absolute singleness – “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one” (Deut. 6:4). Other numbers of significance could include 12, 40, and 70.  As you go through the Scriptures, you find additional significance to numbers, specifically in books such as Genesis, Daniel, Acts, and Revelation. The sequence of numerals can have meaning as well. One instance could be the “3:16s” of the Bible; all the chapter 3 verse 16 references and their importance and commonality. In the second chapter of Matthew, the Magi who travelled to worship the new King, would likely have been skilled in astronomy, astrology, and numerology. So, it’s easy to see that numbers have significance and value in and of themselves, given by the Creator.
All that said, we have to be careful about assigning too much importance to numbers, as this can lead to mystical and theological extremes; believing numbers can reveal the future or uncover hidden information. This in turn can lead to the dangerous areas of divination, soothsaying, and other occult practices (Deut. 18:9-14), all of which we want to stay away from…far, far, far away! However, the patterns we readily can see in the Bible do not exist randomly but by design. Even the ancient languages used to pen the Scripture, like Hebrew, have letters that also represent numerals and numerical value, each believed to communicate Truth. We just need to make sure we don’t attribute too much meaning to numbers or their sequence.

10/13/67 and Being a Redhead

I was born on Friday, October 13, 1967 – ooh, a spooky day indeed. I’ve never been “afraid” of Friday the 13th and have in fact, celebrated it…it is my birthday after all. As a matter of fact, my 50th birthday will be a Friday. I share my birthday with one my favorite rock stars and inspirations, Sammy Hagar! See, I’m just a 70s and 80s classic rock head-banger who found grace…actually, grace found me…and have tried to use my gifts to serve others. Since discovering that the Red Rocker and myself share birthdays, I have found Hagar’s music inspiring and his life perspective something to be emulated, especially over the past decade or so. He’s a man of faith, a believer, who strives to help others and make the world a better place. Worthy traits to be followed. Is he flawed? Well, of course he is! Just like the rest of us sinners, or have you forgotten? I’m not saying that all he does, or has done, should be applauded. I certainly wouldn’t say that about myself, either. But as he’s aged he’s also grown wiser and more clearly focused on what’s most important in his life – his faith, his family, and his legacy. I also share my birthday with Jerry Rice, Margaret Thatcher, Marie Osmond, Jerry Jones, and Paul Simon. But I think Sammy is the coolest, in my humble opinion.

1013 (Ten-13)

Relative to the so-called “vibrations” or meaning of numbers, as Pythagoras referenced it, 1013 has a unique makeup. Keep in mind, this is completely speculative and based on ancient traditional perspectives of the meaning of numbers, biblical numerology, and ancient Greek philosophy. Interesting though…
The numerical sequence of 1013 is made up of 1 occurring twice with 3 and 0. One represents uniqueness and individuality – there’s only one you – there’s only one me. The number 1 twice conveys the idea of new beginnings, striving forward, motivation and progress, as well as self-leadership and self-assertiveness. Further, it can represent determination, attainment and fulfillment. Good things in view of life coaching, huh? The number 1 can reflect the idea that our thoughts and beliefs determine our actions and influence our realities. (Now, where have I heard that before? That sounds so familiar.)
The number 3 can associate with the idea of enthusiasm and optimism, clear communication and self-expression, along with inspiration and creativity. Three can be representative of good fortune, encouragement and assistance, growth and expansion through talent and skill development. Again, not bad perspectives in the realm of life coaching.
The number 0 resonates with deity, the completeness, wholeness, and eternity of God. There is a continuous, cycles and flows, associated with 0 – the beginning and ending point. Much like your wedding ring, it can mark potential and choice, the beginning of a spiritual journey and relationship together with the adventure and uncertainty that entails. The number 0 was believed to magnify the other numerals with which it appeared.
Together, 1013 would “communicate” that change, transition, or other obstacles may take place in your life as a means of breaking new ground for you. This in turn, brings new opportunities for growth and discovery in all areas of life – emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. It can also direct you toward the assisted identification of your passion (i.e. soul mission) and pursuit of your life purpose. Ten-13 “could” correspond to trusting that Divine Providence is with you as you go through these transitions and changes, helping to bring your life into alignment with your designed purpose. (Seems like I’ve read that somewhere before too…Romans 8 maybe?) It could also convey the idea of trusting your intuition (i.e. the Holy Spirit) and take action as you’re guided and assisted. Use the power of self-talk, mental transformation (Romans 12:2), and Divine inspiration to seek out the circumstances you want to experience in your life and do not be afraid to try new things. Sure sounds like there’s a lot of consistency between 1013 and the practice of life coaching…go figure?

10:13 Chapter and Verse

Along with the above interesting reasons for my “connection” to 1013, there are several verses of Scripture that are significant.
  • Deuteronomy 10:13 – …keep the Lord’scommandments and His statutes which I am commanding you today for your good…
  • Proverbs 10:13 – On the lips of the discerning, wisdom is found, But a rod is for the back of him who lacks understanding.
  • Jeremiah 10:13 – When He speaks in the thunder, the heavens roar with rain. He causes the clouds to rise over the earth. He sends the lightning with the rain and releases the wind from his storehouses.
  • Mark 10:13 – And they were bringing children to Him so that He might touch them…
  • Romans 10:13 – for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
  • 1 Corinthians 10:13 – No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.
  • 2 Corinthians 10:13 – We will not boast about things done outside our area of authority. We will boast only about what has happened within the boundaries of the work God has given us, which includes our working with you.
Obviously, some of these are more relevant than others but each one speaks a truth relative to me personally and my work as a life coach.

What’s Your 1013?

In police and law enforcement circles, code 10-13 is commonly a request for information on weather and/or road conditions. It’s a report on the current conditions. Again, specific to life coaching, it’s the report on how you’re currently doing; are you making progress toward where you want to be? What’s your 10-13? How are things going for you? Are you going through a rough patch and could maybe use a little help traversing the terrain? Have you lost some traction in accomplishing or even identifying your goals? Has the fog set in to the point that you can’t really see where you’re going?
Don’t take unnecessary risks and put you or your family in harm’s way. I can help you eradicate some of the fog. I can help you see the road better. I can help you feel more confident behind the wheel. I can help you find your location on the map and determine the best route to get you to your desired destination. If you’re stuck in a rut, I can help you out of it.
Ten-13 has a lot of significance to me and it can come to mean quite a bit to you as well. In the end, it’s just a number. The real significance is found in the Creator of the number and His desire for you to have life, and have it to the full. It’s a 1013 thing!
Live your potential,
Dave
